Peace and conflict studies from Bluffton University

Bluffton University currently offers students a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS). A PCS minor applies to a broad spectrum of life situations and serves in conjunction with other academic disciplines. This minor fits especially well with the Peace and Conflict Resolution Program in Northern Ireland or the Pittsburgh Semester cross-cultural terms.

We pursue not only the conceptual and theoretical background for peace and conflict studies, but also the practical and realistic approaches. We seek to explore how peacemaking and conflict resolution are relevent to contemporary issues and problems and essential to our action in the world. While we do focus on peace and conflict through a Mennonite-Anabaptist lens, we are willing to discuss and learn about peacemaking from other faith traditions and invite dialogue from such persons who wish to pursue such other paths in peace and conflict studies.

Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Bluffton University

The goal of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department is to provide a wide range of learning experiences in the education, recreation, wellness and sport management areas. This will prepare students for careers in more than one of these areas upon graduation.

We encourage each student in our department to obtain professional experiences related to their area of study through internships or clinical practice experience. Encouragement is also given to secure coaching opportunities, CPR and first aid certification and to attend professional conferences and clinics in areas related to their field of study.
