Consistent with the Carroll mission, the Physical Therapy Program is dedicated to providing a superior educational opportunity for students. We are committed to excellence in teaching and learning, research and community service. We emphasize a patient-centered approach by continuously integrating course work with hands-on learning experiences, and by providing innovative curriculum programming in which students apply the knowledge and skills they gain in the classroom to clients and patients in real-world, practical situations through both clinical internships and through the campus Teaching Laboratory Practice. The program is fully accredited by both the Higher Learning Commission and the American Physical Therapy Association to award the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
Graduates of the Physical Therapy Program embody the American Physical Therapy Association Core Values defining professionalism that include accountability, altruism, compassion, excellence, integrity, professional duty and social responsibility. They are reflective, adaptable and competent to render independent judgments within a framework of collaborative health care practice. Graduates place patient needs above their own and are prepared to practice in a caring way with moral sensitivity and awareness of individual differences. Carroll University Physical Therapy graduates also have a lifelong commitment to self-directed learning and critical inquiry, recognizing that completion of their professional education is the first phase on a continuum to mastery in the practice of physical therapy.
