WSU’s Educational Leadership program offers graduate studies at the masters and doctoral levels and administrator certification programs for the superintendent, residency principal, and residency program administrator certificates. The masters (M.A. and Ed.M.) and doctoral (Ed.D. and Ph.D.) degree programs offer specializations in K-12 educational leadership.

Program faculty are dedicated to meeting students’ needs as current and future K-12 educational leaders and to preparing future professors for work in academia. The program provides a balance and integration of practical experience, theory, and research and aims to prepare educational leaders who function as scholar-practitioners.
Educational leadership programs are offered at all of WSU’s campuses (Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver). All campuses offer the Educational Leadership masters degrees, certification programs, and access to the statewide doctor of education degree (Ed.D.). One-year residency at the Pullman campus is required for the doctor of philosophy degree (Ph.D.).
WSU’s Educational Leadership program is one of 70 doctoral-granting programs nationwide selected for membership in the University Council for Educational Administration, a national consortium dedicated to the improvement of educational leadership preparation and practice. WSU’s graduate students have the opportunity to participate in UCEA’s annual convention and other professional activities.
WSU’s administrator certification programs are organized around the national ISLLC (Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium) standards, which have been adopted as the certification standards for Washington State licensure.. WSU’s innovative cohort-based and field-based certification programs for principals and superintendents promote a close professional network. Faculty members for certification programs have extensive experience as school principals and/or central office administrators.

Washington State University offers an Ed.D. degree tailored to the needs of working professionals, with specializations in community college leadership, educational leadership, and teacher leadership. The four-year, part-time program combines distance learning with limited time spent on WSU campuses in Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, or Vancouver. There is also an Ed.D. specialization in higher education administration, which can be earned on a full-time or part-time basis in Pullman.

Washington State University Tri-Cities offers the Master of Education (Ed.M.) degree in Literacy Education. The Ed.M. is a non-thesis degree designed for teachers and administrators wishing to extend their professional knowledge and enhance their competence as practitioners. Course credit also may be used to meet continued certification requirements, lead to a Reading , Bilingual, and/or ESL Endorsement. Coursework may also be used to fulfill the Professional Certification Requirements. The Literacy Education program focuses on literacy development across the grade levels (K-12) and across the curriculum.

A variety of degree and credential programs is available in Educational Leadership to meet the needs as a professional educator at every stage of your career. Programs are designed for the working professional in K-12 education. Courses are sequenced and scheduled to permit full-time teachers and administrators to complete the M.Ed. degree and/or credential program in approximately two years, with full-time enrollment available during summer sessions.

Program Background
The Department of Teaching and Learning at WSU Tri-Cities offers a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Students are encouraged to meet with a WSU Tri-Cities education advisor to discuss prerequisites, admissions, and transfer course equivalencies.
The bachelor’s degree in education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, and the State of Washington.
