The Department of Health, Physical Education & Human Performance at Salisbury University offers four majors that lead to the Bachelor of Science degree: Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Health Education and Physical Education. We attempt to attract high quality students into an environment conducive to learning socially, mentally, and physically; and maintain appropriate facilities and other resources necessary to effectively educate students.
The Health and Physical Education programs are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The Athletic Training Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The Exercise Science program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

The Bachelor of Science in Health Education deals with the complexities of human behavior with the expressed purpose of promoting healthy lifestyles. A degree in Health Education provides students with the competencies necessary to become an effective Health Educator. On completion of the BS degree in Health, students are eligible for careers in health-related fields and grades 7-12 school health education. Welcome to the Department of Health and Human Performance located in the spacious Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. The department offers 3 academic concentrations: Exercise Science & Wellness , K-12 Licensure, and Sport Management. Each of these concentrations leads to an exciting and rewarding professional career. Please visit the each concentrations homepage. Additionally, through this department a variety of physical activities classes are offered to meet the needs of the UT Martin student body.
The program is designed for health and physical education teachers and coaches in school settings. Focus is placed on instructional development and advanced knowledge and skills in general educational principles. A curricular area of specialization is pursued to increase awareness and understanding of current educational trends and issues. The areas of specialization are human performance, sport and exercise psychology, physical education pedagogy (suspended until further notice), and school health education, including options for initial or second licensure in multi-age health education.
UW-Superior's Department of Health and Human Performance offers several majors that enable students to study physical education, health, health education, fitness management and exercise science. Students use these programs to launch careers in education, business, sports, personal fitness, public health and other fields. The program also offers minors that are ideal complements to majors in education, health and business.
Majors in physical education prepare students for teaching at a variety of grade and ability levels. Many teachers enhance their employment options by completing minors in coaching, health, health education or exceptional education (adapted physical education.)
