In today’s brand- and media-driven world, you can play an important role as a public relations professional. Whether it’s working with the media to tell an important story, guiding corporations in their outreach to communities or helping roll out a new product or brand, the career possibilities for Capital’s public relations majors are diverse and exciting.
Offered in partnership with Sonoma State University, the CANDEL program is intended primarily for working professionals in leadership positions and can be completed within three years. Within a cohort system, students will rely on their collective experiences to supplement the formal learning process and will be enrolled in a common sequence of core courses. Approximately equal numbers of students in each cohort will focus either on pre-schoolgrade 12 issues or on higher education leadership with a community college emphasis. At the same time, student enrollment is growing by leaps and bounds. Experts predict that, over the next decade, the U.S. will need more than 2 million new teachers.
The Early Childhood Education Program includes a liberal arts core in addition to all the specialized courses. This two-year program is designed to equip the student with the experience and skills needed to work with children under five. Student teaching is required.
