MS in Organizational Leadership at Geneva College

The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership program at Geneva is an innovative and exciting graduate program that resulted after several years of development.

During that time, steps were taken in order to ensure the quality and relevance of the MSOL program’s outcomes and content. Some of the nation’s most distinguished leadership scholars were consulted during this process. In addition, interviews were conducted among area corporate leaders as a means of identifying the ways in which the MSOL program could best meet the educational and professional needs of their employees. Finally, leadership programs representing a variety of colleges and universities from across the country were evaluated. The result is a graduate program that we believe provides an appropriate blend of theory and field-based application.

At the core of the MSOL program is the belief that the concept of leadership must be reconceptualized and applied in unique and innovative ways in order to meet the requirements of today’s rapidly changing and complex organizations. This approach is interdisciplinary in nature, drawing upon the social sciences and organizational studies to develop the program’s theoretical framework. In addition, the content of the MSOL program flows directly out of Geneva’s mission statement, which is centered on developing servant-leaders. By delivering a biblically-based program focusing on this concept, students have the potential to impact leadership in a variety of organizations throughout the region.

Designed for working adults, the MSOL program is modeled after the very successful Geneva College Degree Completion Program. This concept of the adult education utilizes a cohort model in which an average of 15 students begin the program together and take each course as a group according to the curriculum outlined on this Web site. Proceeding through the program in this way, students can complete their master’s degree in two years, meeting one night each week at convenient class locations throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Area.
