The minor in Horsemanship is designed to introduce students to the horse industry and to prepare them to care for and ride horses in a non-professional environment. The minor will provide the student with sufficient knowledge of the horse industry needed to obtain a position in an equine-related field that requires a degree or special training in another field of study.
The student must complete at least 22 credit hours of Equine Studies courses from the following list and a major, at the Bachelor level, in another field. Equine electives may be taken in Equine Studies, Biology or physical science.

The Master of Arts in Childhood or Adolescence Special Education with an annotation in Severe and Multiple Disabilities is designed for those who hold certification in Childhood or Adolescence Education. Upon completion of this 36-credit-program, students will be eligible, dependent upon their initial certification, for certification in Childhood Special Education, Biology Special Education, English Special Education, History Special Education, or Mathematics Special Education. Each candidate will also be eligible for the annotation in Severe and Multiple Disabilities (birth to age 21).
This part-time, 2-year-program, emphasizes the integration of theory and practice. Expertise in the pedagogy of special education is acquired through course work that includes assessment, differentiated instruction, the inclusion of family school and community in collaboration, legal issues, as well as fieldwork and practicum experiences.
To successfully complete the program, students must maintain a B average.

The life sciences teaching major helps students obtain the Minnesota Science Teaching License with Life Science Specialty. This license provides certification to teach life science classes, such as biology, environmental science and integrated science in grades 9-12, plus all science areas in grades 5-8 including earth science and physical science. Students gain a foundation in the biological, physical and earth sciences; engage in active hands-on scientific inquiry through lab experiments, field study and computerized analysis of data; explore methods of teaching science that actively engage students through inquiry activities, experimentation, projects, the exploration of issues and the use of technology; and develop skills in planning instruction, guiding learning and assessing the performance of science students.
