Program Overview
The Master of Science in Education and Biology is offered by the College of Education in collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences. The Master of Science and Education degree is designed for students who wish to combine study in Biology with Education. Students have an advisor in both the College of Education and in Biology who jointly plan and direct the program. Students must complete their culminating experience in biology.

Of Special Interest
Students seeking initial teacher licensure in Biology should consider enrolling in the Master’s of Secondary Education (LAMP) with a specialization in science.

Curriculum Information
The program features 12 hours in education, 21 hours in Biology or Science Education, and 3 hours of thesis or project.

Basic Education
The School of Teacher Training, on the campus of UERJ in São Gonçalo, the course offers specialization in Basic Education in School Management arrangements, Teaching Geography, Biology Teaching and Teaching Language and Literature Portuguese Language.

Target audience
Applicants for teaching methods of Geography, Biology Teaching and Teaching of Languages and Literatures of Portuguese must have full degree in Geography, Biology and Literature, respectively. The applicant may submit form School Management degree in education or in specific areas.

Teaching Science
The course aims at the initiation of teachers in the area of academic research in Science Teaching of Science and its training.

Target audience
Graduates and bacharéis in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geosciences, Mathematics and Pedagogy.
