Degrees for Education

The program is designed to develop qualified bilingual/bicultural instructors (Spanish-English) who can work as classroom or resource teachers and staff developers. It will help individuals teach others how to provide experiences in the cultural heritage of the target population and develop specific teaching techniques and methods in teaching reading and English as a second language. The program will also help individuals to interpret and implement research related to bilingual/bicultural children. Individuals will become skilled in their abilities to diagnose learning needs for such students and to develop and implement sound educational strategies.

The Division of Continuing and Global Education includes the Extension Programs Office, where you will find a variety of credit and non-credit opportunities for those seeking to continue their education, and the International Programs Office, focusing on study abroad and student exchange programs for college students.

The Joint Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership (JDPEL) was the outcome of close cooperation between key individuals from the University of California and California State University, Fresno. JDPEL admitted its first 13 students in fall 1991. The program was designed specifically to train future educational leaders residing in the Central San Joaquin Valley.
