This program is designed to prepare students for a career in the field of child care. The Early Childhood Development certificate is an in-depth credential for the early childhood teacher. Upon completion of 34 credits, individuals will be eligible for a County College of Morris academic program certificate. Students are required to meet with the coordinator of the program to review their curriculum and discuss educational and career goals.

This program is designed to prepare students for a career in the field of child care. Participants earn college credits while working in a child care setting. Upon completion of 24 credits, individuals are awarded a County College of Morris career certificate of completion and will be eligible for a group teacher approval letter from the New Jersey State Bureau of Licensing.

The purpose of this degree is to educate learners to work with young children and families in early childhood settings. Practices of early childhood professionals focus on teaching strategies based on child development and learning styles; creating developmentally, individually, and culturally appropriate practices; assessing children’s development and learning; and developing positive relationships with children and their families.

The Early Childhood Education program develops the knowledge and skills of students interested in working in a variety of programs for infants, toddlers and preschool-age children. Graduates of this program work as staff and directors of child care centers, group supervisors in child care centers, parent educators, and children’s museum staff members. The program provides both a sound theoretical foundation in principles of human growth and development from the prenatal to the early school years, as well as a functional understanding of programs and curricula appropriate to the young child. Students participate in field experiences in child care centers, nursery schools, kindergartens, family child care homes, and programs providing special services for children.

This program enables students to meet the educational qualification for group leader and director as defined by the Department of Human Services of the State of Colorado. This program provides training for those who want to become involved in the care of young children from birth to age eight. Courses in theory and lab experience are combined to provide a comprehensive base of growth and development, with a strong emphasis on field experiences. Early intervention, high risk, gifted and developmentally delayed issues are included.
Employment may be found in child care centers, preschools, kindergartens, nursery schools, after-school programs, recreational centers, playground, and other programs serving children from birth to age eight.
Graduates will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency. The curriculum includes many of the classes included in the Associate of Science degree in Early childhood Education and credits may apply toward that degree.

The Child Development degree and certificate programs are designed to prepare individuals for entry-level positions working with young children and their families. The CDC provides child care and development services for students enrolled in the college and provides a training site for students in Early Childhood Education and other college programs related to children and families
