The PhD in Educational Sciences aims to form a professional at the highest level, with a profound motivation to investigate and understand the causes and consequences of the failures and experiences in the education system, the methodological tools, science and technology necessary to lead the changes necessary to place on the ladder of social development and the dignity of individuals.
Specialized training in the field of educational research will dig deeper, ask questions and find the truth behind this issue in response to this profound set of questions, expresses concern and urgency in the Costa Rican education system and its relationship to education world.
Student profile
Ability to detect problems and developing solutions through a critical and creative in their professional work.
Ability to plan, organize, develop, conduct or guide research in social and educational, for the creation of new knowledge or the resolution of problematic educational situations.
Critically interpret research and evaluative nature.
Write articles, give speeches, to compare ideas, critical thinking and educational issues disclose academic.
Management of the latest communication technologies, not only for their ongoing personal enrichment, but for their advisory work, teaching and conducting innovative processes.
Ease in interpersonal relations and groups, ability for integration into social groups of different compositions and labor.
Skilled management of communication in situations dissertation, counseling or education to groups of varying size.
Efficiently advise steering groups, institutions, public and private, national and international or specialized teams working on the analysis of educational issues for a proper decision.
Duration
Has a duration of seven (7) semesters of fifteen (15) weeks each. With a total of 73 credits.

Entry Requirements
The admission of students to the program, is the power of the Commission of the Doctoral Program in Education Sciences from the Catholic University of Costa Rica.
Present title of Bachelor or Master of Education or any of the Social Sciences, awarded by the Catholic University, for one of the members of CONARE universities, or recognized by the CONESUP or university with international recognition duly authenticated by the appropriate authorities .
Possess a minimum average of 80 in pre-university studies.
Submitted to an interview
Submit the following documents:
Curriculum vitae (CV).
Application form duly filled entry to the program.
Written application by hand, in justifying his interest in entering the doctoral program and the area or topic you want to deepen and be included.
Document that presents your research project, or plan of written academic work, which developed as a doctoral requirement.
Original and photocopy of academic qualifications obtained, including Bachelor of Secondary Education (required by CONESUP)
Record of college grades.
Two letters of recommendation: one academic and one that will realize his capacity as a professional officer.
Two passport size photographs.
Two photocopies of identity card, both sides.
Graduation Requirements
Study and approve the program of studies, with a weighted average of at least 80.
To keep up with their financial obligations and other services provided by the university.
Approve the defense of the doctoral thesis before a Court Examiner.
Title and grade given
Once satisfied all requirements for graduation, students receive the degree of Doctorate in Education Sciences
