A career in special education is an exciting and challenging choice. This site will help you understand what IU Southeast offers and how you can take your first step on the path to a valued career.
We offer an undergraduate degree in special education and two license-only (non-degree) options at the graduate level. All three options lead to certification in Mild Intervention (Indiana) or Learning & Behavior Disorders (Kentucky) and focus on the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to become a caring high quality educator who contributes to renewing schools in a multi-cultural society.
The rigorous coursework is practitioner oriented coursework. Undergraduates have five semesters of learning experiences in K-12 classrooms. Graduate level courses are scheduled so practicing teachers can complete them at night and in the summer.
