MMC students have the opportunity to work in area schools from their freshman orientation class, to field experience, practicum and into student teaching. This unique curriculum facilitates graduates to become proficient, quality teachers.
Mount Marty College offers a full semester of student teaching. This length of experience helps our graduates confidently pursue a job and competently fill their positions. Given the small size of classes, professors teach all classes, know their students, and commit to helping their students to grow personally and professionally.

Secondary Education
The secondary licensure program provides teacher education candidates broad field content knowledge and prepares them as teachers for grades 7-12. Secondary licensure candidates may choose from majors in English, History, Mathematics, Spanish, and Science (Biology, Geology, or Environmental Science). A minimum of 75 credit hours of general education and content area coursework must be completed with a minimum GPA of 2.80 before a candidate can apply for admission to the Center for Teacher Education secondary licensure program. Before a student may register for any upper level education courses, s/he must have been formally accepted into the Center for Teacher Education through a thorough application process.
Secondary education students must complete ENGL 111 and 112, PSYC 233, SPCH 102, and EDUC 211 with a grade of “B” or better and MATH 110 or higher with a grade of “C” or better prior to commencing the upper level education sequence of classes. General Education and degree courses may be taken concurrently with education courses until the final internship semester.

The main goal of the College of Education is to train secondary school teachers of high integrity who are well equipped with specific knowledge in their chosen fields: Education, English, History, Korean, and Mathematics. In addition to their regular classroom work, students spend part of their time actually teaching and observing students in approved secondary schools including the four schools affiliated with the University. Upon their graduation, the students are given teaching certificates and are expected to carry out their teaching responsibilities.

Hillsdale’s liberal arts emphasis means that students do not major in education. Instead, students major and minor in the subjects they will be teaching: specifically, biology, chemistry, English, French, German, history, mathematics, music, physical education, physics, science, Spanish, and speech studies. The choice of minors is slightly expanded, in order to include computer science and early childhood education, with early childhood education requiring the addition of a minimum of two minors, one of which must be English, history, mathematics or science.

The general education programs leading to the M.Ed. degree are designed to help experienced educators increase their professional and academic knowledge and skills and prepare for special types of education service.
M.Ed. – The Foundations Program
Each candidate for the M.Ed. degree must complete six semester hours in foundation courses in the following areas: research and evaluation (ED 660); and social foundations of education (ED 671 or 672).
Adult and Higher Education
This program is designed for persons who wish to develop their knowledge and competencies in working with adult and higher education students and for individuals who wish to enter student affairs administration in higher education. Students are required to complete a minimum of 33 semester hours. Degree requirements, in addition to foundation courses, include two courses selected from EDG 648, 649, or 650; three courses selected from ED 630, 631, 633, 635, EDG 618, 651, 652, 685L, or EDR 629; nine hours of approved electives; and either ED 693 or ED 695. Biology, English, History, Mathematics, or Physics concentrations within the Adult and Higher Education emphasis require, in addition to foundation courses, three courses from ED 630, EDG 648, 649, 650, and either ED 693 or ED 695, and 15 semester hours in the selected subject area approved by subject area and education advisors. College Student Affairs Leadership concentration requires, in addition to foundation courses, two emphasis areas courses: EDG 648, 649; and seven concentration courses: EDG 647, 651, 652, 653, 654, 655, 685, and one capstone course: either ED 693 or ED 695; and six semester hours of electives.
Advanced Content Specialization
This program is designed for teachers who wish to further develop their knowledge and competencies in their specialized content area and also in teaching at the middle or high school levels. The Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics, Music, or Physics are all concentrations that can be completed within this emphasis program. In addition to foundation courses, requirements for the M.Ed. include the core courses ED 630, EDG 637, 638; and either ED 693 or ED 695; and at least 15 approved credits in the subject matter. Design and disciplinary teaching. Educational Italian, mathematics, English, history, science, law, economics
The University of Macerata, Università degli Studi del Molise and the CELF (Center for e-learning and training at the University of Macerata), in cooperation with IFOR in Matera, trigger for the academic year 2007/2008, a Course lasting one year, in the Design and disciplinary teaching. Educational Italian, mathematics, English, history, science, law, economics seeks to enrich and refine the design education, including through online activity.
Teaching the past decade has highlighted the need for a significant learning skills designed to create more knowledge. It requires us to shape the context in which to build models, rather than receiving responses. Simultaneously, the student can interact with micro adopting cultures, languages, ‘rules’ different and require multiple approaches.
Undoubtedly, the design is influenced by the teaching customization and complexity. It is aimed at learning meaningful, authentic tasks and proposes located, favors personalized perspective.
The course is the time for training in professional preparation of teachers and is also carried out in connection with training at a distance that the University of Camerino, Macerata and Molise have already activated and are meant to enhance.

The Education program prepares teachers to create productive teaching environments while offering a broad knowledge of education through research, practice, field experience, and participation in other professional activities. The program also prepares scholars to contribute to the field of education through research, conference presentations and publications.
The Education program is a graduate program. (Undergraduates interested in education enroll in one of our bachelor’s programs in Interdisciplinary Studies, Biology, English, History, or Mathematics, and begin taking graduate education courses during their third year.)
All program graduates become eligible to apply for initial New York State certification in their respective program area upon completion of the master’s degree. Students with three years of satisfactory full-time teaching, providing all New York State examinations and program requirements are met, may apply for professional certification.

Students pursuing the early childhood/childhood education program must major in a liberal arts field. At Utica College, the following liberal arts majors are available: biology, chemistry, communication arts, economics, English, history, international studies, liberal studies, mathematics, philosophy, physics, psychology, psychology-child life, and sociology and anthropology. In addition to the requirements of their major and the courses in the early childhood/childhood education program (listed below), students must fulfill the following requirements (some of which may be satisfied by the Utica College core curriculum):

The mission of the Department of Education at Northwest Nazarene University is to be a Christ-centered unit that develops capable, compassionate educators who are determined and prepared to meet the educational needs of young people in a changing world.
Secondary Education programs lead to certification in grades 6-12. You may choose one teaching area.” Teaching areas at NNU include: art, biology, chemistry, English, kinesiology, mathematics, music, and social science.
