UG in Physical Education at Universidade Federal De Vicosa

The Physical Education program is duly recognized and currently offers Undergraduate and Teacher Training degrees in Physical Education.

These are academic-professional fields based on the knowledge in Health sciences, Human and Social sciences, Art and Philosophy. It ensures a professional training founded on ethical and political principles, based on the scientific strictness concerning a general, humanistic, critical and reflexive understanding that enriches the academic-professional practice.

Physical Education is a field of professional activity that, through different manifestations and expressions of the physical activity and human movement (expressed in gymnastics, sports, games, leisure, physical exercises, etc.), benefits society and is characterized by the dissemination and application of knowledge, seeking education, health, sports practice, leisure and body expression.

The Physical Education area needs knowledge from many different academic areas. That is why courses are offered by other departments: the Biological and Health Sciences; Human, Languages and Arts Sciences and Mathematical and Technological Sciences.

Such courses focus on the educational and practical knowledge of the following areas: biodynamics, behavior, social anthropology, science and technology, pedagogy, applied technical-functions and different manifestations of body culture. During the program, students can perform in different fields, broadening their opportunities for future professional activity.

Students can use a special physical infrastructure adequate for their learning activities, with an Olympic swimming pool, sports gymnasium, multi-purpose sports courts, strength physiology laboratory, running track, gymnastics and Olympic gymnastics rooms, soccer fields, tennis courts, weight-lifting training room, judo room, etc.

The program counts on faculty with Master’s and PhD degrees, offering undergraduates well qualified education, research and extension, which are the foundation of their learning process.

Anthropology of Education MSc from Brunel University

Ideas and research findings from the discipline of social anthropology are increasingly considered to be significant for many organisations, policies and practices both within and outside the discipline. Social anthropologists, through the penetrating questions they pose, suggest innovative and important ways in which we can understand ourselves as well as others, particularly through the study of cultural processes. Social anthropologists do not consider culture as a structure which is imposed on people or situations, but as a dynamic process which is ever changing and constantly being negotiated and renegotiated.
